Biography
Laura Welch was born in 1946 in Midland, Texas. In 1977, she met George W. Bush at a party at the home of mutual friends. Three months later, they were married, and five years after that, she gave birth to twins, Barbara and Jenna. While her husband was governor of Texas, Mrs. Bush shied away from the spotlight, generally disliking politics and preferring to think of herself as a simple librarian. When George W. Bush was appointed President of the United States in 2000, Laura became First Lady, and was not too thrilled.

Musical career
During her husband's troubled presidency, Laura Bush has often escaped into the tolerant and non-judgmental world of musical theatre, appearing in several Nero Fiddled productions. Mrs. Bush typically sings folk songs of her own composition, accompanying herself on an acoustic guitar. Her hits include "Laura's Alphabet," "Karl Rove," and "God Bless the G.O.P."
